Summer is here, and we’re ready for it! These 9 must buy products for summer 2020 are getting me through this season at home.

Goggles, a can of dry shampoo, a silicone straw, spray bottle, and a wireless earphone case.

Summer is here! We’ve made it halfway through 2020 (a bigger accomplishment than we ever thought possible back in January)…and now we’re just trying to stay healthy, sane, and make it through the second half of the year.

Here are nine must buy products for summer 2020 that I’m currently loving! They’re each either saving me time, sanity, or keeping me healthy during the current pandemic.

Wireless Earbuds

Wireless bluetooth headphones in a case
Being cooped up inside together so much for so long (hello, COVID-19) has made the kids a little (okay, a lot) more temperamental, which also means they fight constantly.

These earbuds are perfect to drown out the fighting just a little with some music, a podcast (check out some of my favorites here), or an audiobook.

My daughter likes to take things, play with them, and leave them in obscure places, never to be found again. So Airpods are out of the question–I’d be lucky if they lasted a month in our house, and they’re much too expensive for that shelf life).

But these ones are are amazing! They’re significantly cheaper, stay in my ears, have great sound quality, and the battery charge lasts a long time (35 hours, according to the seller).

They also have a little button on the outside of each one to pause/play whatever you’re listening to, so if you need to pause to break up a fight or answer your kid’s question, it’s simple and easy to do. I love that I can set my phone down and go throughout the house cleaning while listening to something and also have the ability to easily turn it off for a minute or two if I need to.

These have been a game changer for me! Snag a pair HERE.

Dry Shampoo

2 cans of Beach Babe dry shampoo
Not only do I not have the energy or desire to wash my hair very often these days, but I’m rarely leaving the house and seeing anyone, so what’s the point?

This time at home has been perfect for training my hair to go longer between washes (there are SO many benefits for doing this, like saving time, using less heat on your hair, and improving hair health) and it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.

But going a long time between washes requires a great dry shampoo, and I’ve recently found that Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo is my fave!

It’s light, doesn’t leave a residue, and smells like a dream! Seriously, I can go days without washing my hair and my husband compliments the smell of my hair! It’s amazing!

Plus, BONUS, it’s really well priced. You can grab some HERE.

Force of Nature Cleaner

A Force of Nature spray bottle and electrolyzer appliance

Cleaning has always been important, but it’s even MORE important these days. That’s why I’m so grateful I found Force of Nature cleaner just a few months before the coronavirus breakout.

This cleaner is incredibly safe  and gentle (so it’s perfect for moms), but just as effective as bleach. Say what?! The cleaner is made form salt, water, and vinegar and science. It’s way cool! Learn more about the science HERE.

Plus, it can replace pretty much all the cleaners in your home! Use it on counters, floors, walls, rugs, carpet, bathrooms, glass, and more! It’s always a good idea to test an inconspicuous area first–especially with fabrics–but I’ve had zero issues in my home.

It smells light and clean, gets rid of odors (hello kids who dribble pee on the floor around the toilet 🙄), and does an amazing job of cleaning just about anything. Seriously, I’m obsessed!

You do pay more up front with Force of Nature because you have to buy a starter kit to create your cleaner, but over time, you’ll save SO MUCH MONEY. You can see how it compares to other products HERE.

Frogglez Goggles

Floatable goggles for kids
Swimming season is here and we’re loving it!

My kids won’t swim without goggles, but they also hate the gummy, gelish strap that keeps pulling on their hair while they swim. Enter the FINIS Frogglez goggles. They have a large fabric strap that comfortably keeps the goggles secure on kids’ heads.

They also float, so no more losing goggles at the bottom of the pool. My kids love them and I wish I would have found them years ago!

You can see all the different color options HERE.

Timer

Two timers
My productivity has gone down significantly over the past few months, but these timers are getting me back on track.

Yes, I have a timer on my phone, but when I have my phone by me, I’m much more likely to get distracted by texts, GroupMe messages, Marco Polos, Instagram, Tik Tok, email, the list goes on and on. So these timers have been a game changer! They come in a two pack for about $10, so it’s not a huge investment either.

I pick a task, set the timer, and get to work! Sometimes I race myself and try to beat the clock by getting the task done before it beeps. Other times I set a timer to motivate myself to get working on something I don’t want to do (“I don’t have to clean the whole kitchen. Just clean for 15 minutes!”). Or I use it give myself breaks on longer tasks (work for 30 minutes, break for 5).

It sounds so simple, but these timers will change your life! Get a set HERE.

Salad Container

A Bentgo salad container filled with salad and toppings.
This salad container is another GAME CHANGER! I love salads, but making them makes me want to poke my eyeballs out. All the chopping and assembling and mixing and I’M HUNGRY, Y’ALL. I don’t want to spend all this time prepping!

I’ve tried chopping everything at the beginning of the week, but then I have various little containers to get out and open and assemble it all when I’m ready to eat now. I’ve tried pre-assembling in mason jars or a basic Tupperware, but then it all ends up getting soggy or what not.

This special salad container solves all my problems! When I clean up dinner at night, I take a few minutes to assemble my salad for lunch the next day in this Bentgo container and voila! It takes only a few minutes, and everything is in its own compartment so it doesn’t get gross before it’s time to eat. Plus, it’s all ready to go when I’m ready to eat the next day and not much feels better than having lunch ready to go the night before!

You can check out all the color options (I got an adorable pink and gray marble one) and grab yours HERE.

Silicone Straws

A bunch of colorful silicone straws along with two straw cleaning brushes
I love straws! And summer in Arizona means the heat is ready to take over, which means I’m drinking a lot more than usual. I love refilling my tumblers with ice cold water (I have this one in the color ombre sorbet and this one in a hot pink that wasn’t available at the time of this post), and using a straw helps me drink so much more!

That’s where these silicone straws come in. I love that they’re reusable, keep their shape, and come with lots of fun, bright colors.

You can snag a set of 15 HERE.

Salad Spinner

A salad spinner filled with salad
Sure, you could use this spinner to wash and spin your lettuce, but my newest obsession with it is to clean my produce after I get groceries for the week!

When I get home from the store, I take the lid off the salad spinner, pour a little bit of white vinegar in the bottom, then fill it almost to the top with water. Then I place the produce in, set a timer for 5-10 minutes (5 minutes for flimsier fruit like raspberries, 10 for tougher fruit like grapes), and let it get nice and clean.

When the timer goes off, I simply pull the strainer bowl out and rinse the fruit in the sink to get rid of any vinegary residue, then set it on a towel to dry. When it’s all dry, I chop what needs to be chopped and put it in containers so it’s ready to grab when we want to eat it!

My produce stays fresh so much longer this way, and we’re more likely to eat it because it’s all ready to go! You can get a salad spinner HERE.

Hair Ties

With it being summer and with us leaving the house less due to COVID, two things are happening:

  1. I’m washing my hair less (as stated above).
  2. I’m wearing my hair up more.

I have two favorite kinds of hair ties that make this possible.

A stack of neutral colored plastic spiral hair ties.

These ones are perfect to put my hair up at night to help me go longer between washes and to help my curls stay fresh and pretty without leaving a crease.
A stack of cord hair ties

These ones are great for ponytails and to put my hair up while I workout. I find they have a little better hold for working out or all-day ponytails, but they still don’t leave a crease (at least when used for shorter time periods, like a workout).

You can see them HERE and HERE, respectively.
